Mut, Ba, & Ka

Mut means "mother" in ancient Egyptian language. Mut is a mother goddess depicted as a woman with the crowns of Egypt on her head. She is associated with the waters from which everything is born. Mut is also known as Eye of Ra. The hieroglyph for Mut is a white vulture. The ancient Egyptians believed vultures were very maternal creatures.

The ancient Egyptians believed that the human soul was made up of 5 parts:

1. Ren (name), 
2. ba (personality), 
3. ka (life force), 
4. sheut (shadow), and 
5. lb (heart).
